“Bed of Roses,” is one of many paintings over the years where I’ve cut one of my old paintings from its stretcher bars and re-stretched it into a new size and orientation to create something fresh. In this case, I allowed many sections of the earlier painting to peek through. There is a quality of striping from the original painting that’s visible across this floral. It brings a sense of movement as does the striped leaves. The original painted peeks through in the leaves creating surprise and depth.
