The Wedge Shaped Core of Darkness” was created through study of the text descriptions of Lily Brisco's painting in To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf.  Further influence came from study of the works of Vanessa Bell, Woolf's painter sister, and Wassily Kandinsky's “Improvisations” as well as the music of Beethoven. I included an image of this piece in a critical paper I completed in the Fall semester of 2017 under the direction of Micheline Aharonian Marcom at Goddard College’s MFA in Creative Writing Program.

“The Wedge Shaped Core of Darkness” was used as the cover image for the Fall edition of The Pitkin Review, The Literary Journal of Goddard College.
